Our Hallway Comes to Life!

It's pretty amazing when you think back to the beginning of the school year. There was nothing on the bulletin board across from our room. The hallway was barren, except for our small corner leading into the classroom. Then, at Curriculum Night I told parents that I wanted to make some more changes, and that I had projects in mind. When one of the parents approached me and asked what I wanted, I told her that benches with baskets and books was high on the list!

She said that Grandpa would donate the cedar, and that she and her husband would build the benches - with places for books too! Our leaf rubbing artwork went up, which helped the atmosphere a tad. But parents and afternoon kindergartners still had to stand in the hall waiting for our afternoon kindergarten day to begin.

Meanwhile, the measuring, cutting and stapling had begun!

The helpers were busy helping!

Proud workers testing the product. Hey, it works!

On Halloween day, the Bench Fairy delivered benches!

Delivery in progress.

Our class takes the first look.

Here they are - all pretty in a row.

Dream come true - Complete with books, pillows and families. We all get to reap the rewards that resulted from the idea, materials, planning, and hard work.

Waiting for the kindergarten day to begin...
